Welcome to the FAMILY

Congratulations! You decided to dedicate your life to following Jesus. You may be wondering what's next on your journey. We want to help! Read on as we guide you toward the next steps in your walk with Christ.

You prayed, committing your life to Christ. Here are 3 things the Bible says happened.

 1. You are saved.

JESUS said, "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved" (John 10:9).

Jesus was saying he's the door to eternal life, and if you enter through the door (believe in Jesus), you will be saved.

 2. You are a child of God.

The BIBLE says: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).

Today you and Jesus began a relationship (received Him), so you are now a child of God, no longer separated from him by sin, but a part of His family.

 3. You have everlasting life.

The BIBLE says: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

Now that you believe in Jesus Christ, you can be confident that you have eternal life because God said it in His Word.

Now YOU know what God did for you. Your Next Steps

1. Take a firm stand for Jesus Christ. Make your life count and tell someone about your decision for Christ.

2. Read and study God's Word. God told us all about himself and his plans for our lives with him–in the Bible. Read the Bible daily, and if you need help applying it to your life, ask one of our pastors, and we'll help.

3. Pray every day. Prayer is the best way to communicate with God. He's interested in your life and wants to help you. Talking with him is critical.

4. Meet your new family. Coming to church consistently is a first step to growing in Christ. You're not alone. We do life together. Life Group is another great way to grow in God, along with other believers.

Baptism is for the Believer, that's You!

With water baptism, we follow Jesus' example and obey His command. It's a public declaration of what Jesus has done in the believer's life, and represents two powerful truths.

1. Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection for our sins.

The Bible says, "The payment for sin is death." Jesus took all our sins on Himself and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. Going down in the water symbolizes Jesus' death and burial, and the washing away of all our sins–past, present, and future–by His blood.

2. The death of our old-life to sin and raising of our new life in Christ.

When we go down in the water, we are proclaiming to heaven, earth, and hell, "My old life is gone. As Christ was buried, I am burying my old sin nature, bad habits; and past hurts, failures, and mistakes. From now on, I am dead to sin, my past, and the world's ways." When we come out of the water, we are proclaiming, "I am a new person with a new life in Jesus." 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "So, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; look, all things are new." Coming up from the water symbolizes Jesus' resurrection, in which He overcame sin and death so that you can have eternal life in Him.
